Relaxing Walk Cycle
During my first year at uni, specifically in second semester, when the lecture gave us a deadline of creating a submission file of two animation clips: a walk cycle, which describes a behaviour/emotion; and a push animation with some basic environments, I figured out that 3D animation is definitely what I really enjoy doing...
We were tasked to use Maya for the animations, however, I did use some other 3D softwares I found myself pretty comfortable with in model creations, for the surroundings and environments, in particular. We were also required to make some audio and effects for our clips as a pratice for those who were interested in the post-production pipeline...
For the walk, I animated the character with a chill, relaxing form of walk; created a natural scene with some lightning effects from After Effects and audio recorded and edited in Audition, which emphasises a message about being carefree, thick skinned and not afraid of letting your true self out in a world where you can only rely on your own.
For what I could have done better, particularly, the cherry trees which was originally made with paint effects in Maya, I could have had them textured with Arnold Standard Surface but I didn't make it till the deadline. That was the reason why in the rendered clip, all the trees look like they were not shaded....
For external resources, I used the website soundbible for the wind and thunder sound effects: soundbible.com/1810-Wind.html and soundbible.com/2053-Thunder-Sound-FX.html
